Who We Are
The American Heart Association is the nation’s oldest and largest voluntary organization dedicated to fighting heart disease and stroke. Founded by six cardiologists in 1924, our organization now includes more than 22.5 million volunteers and supporters. We fund innovative research, fight for stronger public health policies, and provide critical tools and information to save and improve lives. Our nationwide organization includes 156 local offices and more than 3,000 employees. We moved our national headquarters from New York to Dallas in 1975 to be more centrally located. The American Stroke Association was created as a division in 1997 to bring together the organization’s stroke-related activities.

Dear Friends & Family,

Everyone knows someone who has been affected by heart disease or stroke. Throughout the years, research has revealed that heart disease was by far the No.1 cause of death in Americans, including women. In fact, heart disease claims more lives each year than the next five leading causes of death combined.

My mother like all typical mothers always put everyone first and herself last. She had a family history of heart disease, but never thought she was at risk for a heart attack.

Unfortunately, my mom fell victim to heart disease the silent killer. It took the loss of my mother to open my eyes to the importance of heart disease. Knowing my family history has empowered me to take action and save lives. After losing my mother, I encourage women to understand your risks for heart disease and make yourself a priority. My only hope is that my mom's story inspires others to live a longer, stronger life.

My personal goal is to raise $5,000. You can help me by making a tax-deductible donation and your gift will be an investment in the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases and the future of heart disease and stroke patients. Every dollar makes a difference, so any contribution you can make is greatly appreciated!
